Cilantro Lime Sweet TVP Tacos


My little foodies! Tomorrow is national taco day!!! So I’ve prepared a sweet & spicy taco recipe using TVP for some vegan protein! I’ve yet to make “ground beef” out of TVP and I must say, this one is a real winner! Mango, cilantro, lime, avocado, jalapenos – It’s all good stuff guys.. And 20 minutes is nothing! Happy upcoming Taco Tuesday! – Nation style

Prep Time: 5 minutes Cook Time: 15 minutes Total Time: 20 minutes 

Servings:~6 tacos


  • 2 Cups TVP
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1/4 Cup Chopped Onion
  • 1 Tablespoon Garlic
  • 1 Package Taco Seasoning
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt (Only because I used low sodium taco seasoning)
  • Dressing
    • 3 Tablespoons Tahini
    • 1/2 Cup Cucumber
    • 1 Jalapeño
    • 1/8 Cup Chopped Cilantro
  • Mango Salsa
    • 1 Mango Diced
    • 1 Teaspoon Salt & Pepper
    • 2 Teaspoons Lime Juice
    • 1/8 Cup Chopped Cilantro
  • Flour Tortillas
  • Suggested Toppings
    • Sliced Avocado
    • Sliced Jalapeñ


Step 1: Rehydrate the TVP by placing it in a bowl with equal parts boiling water. Stir and let sit 5-10 minutes until moist.

Step 2: Add oil, onion, and garlic to pan and saute on medium heat. Add TVP, taco seasoning, and 1/2 cup of water. Add 1 teaspoon salt and stir until fully coated. Cook on medium heat for 5 minutes.

Step 3: Add tahini, cucumber, jalapeño, cilantro, and a 1/4 cup water to food processor and blend until smooth.

Step 4: In a small mixing bowl, add mango, salt and pepper, lime juice, and chopped cilantro. Stir until fully mixed.

Dress Your Tacos! I like to top mine with fresh sliced avocado and sliced jalapeños or hot sauce!
